Thirsty Thursday & Hungry Hearts~ The Museum of Heartbreak

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts - (un)Conventional Bookviews

I’m participating in Thirsty Thursday & Hungry Hearts, hosted by Lexxie over at {un}Conventional Book Views again this week.

What is Thirsty Thursday & Hungry Hearts? Well here’s a description from Lexxie’s site:

The idea of this feature is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Each week there is a link-up for the current post so that it’s easy to find other participants as well.

This week I am featuring The Museum of Heartbreak by Meg Leder. This scene takes place between Penelope and Eph after school one day. {pages 24-25}

The Museum of Heartbreak

He let out this long, aggrieved sigh, dug into the outside pocket of his bag, and tossed me a small, red-orange-wrapped square.

“Your surprise.”

I barely caught it.

“Holy cow, where did you get this?” I breathed, holding it reverently in both hands.

Dark chocolate Kit Kats were my favorite candy in the entire world, nectar of perfection, the candy of the gods, rarely found in stores in the US and usually enjoyed only when my dad brought them back through customs at Heathrow. Finding them in person in New York City was like finding the holy grail.

Cat Thursday #14

Because I love sharing my adorable furkid, I will be joining True Book Addict for Cat Thursday every week in 2017.

Sorry Mom, I’m ignoring you right now, but I’m just going to keep my paw on your leg so you don’t get away.

And wishing my big sister Disney a happy birthday at the Rainbow Bridge. She would have been 9 years old this past Tuesday. Though she’s been gone for over a year now, Mom and I still miss her every day.
