Top Ten Tuesday~ Reading Wishlist

Welcome to another edition of Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the amazing team at The Broke and the Bookish. This week, the topic is our reading wishlist. Now this is not books that we want to read, but the elements that would make for an idyllic reading experience. When planning my dream library, these are some of the items that I have come up with…

A comfortable place to lounge~ This is pretty much a given, we all need a cozy place to curl up and read. I prefer either the bed with pillows stacked behind be or lounging on a couch. I’ve always dreamed of owning a chaise that I could lounge on while reading.

Lots of light~ I’ve always wanted a window seat, because natural light is best, but a well-lit reading area is key for me. I love light anyway and seem to have all the lights blazing when I’m in a room, but when it comes to reading it is an absolute must.

Soothing music~ While many people like silence when they read, I prefer to have music playing quietly in the background. I have found that I am able to relax and sink into the story more if there is a little background noise. Music works for this, television does not. There will be no TV in my dream library.

A light blanket or throw~ It sometimes gets chilly here in Oregon {or downright cold in the winter}, so it’s nice to have a light blanket that I can snuggle up with while reading. It makes for a cozier reading spot as well.

Something to sip~ A cup of tea, a glass of water, a cocktail; depending on my mood and the reading material before me, as long as I have something to sip I can be contented for hours.

Something to snack~ Like with something to sip above, if I have a snack, I am able to stay content in my cozy reading nest for hours. While there are several different snacks that I enjoy, the crucial part of the snack is that it not be messy! No dripping sauces or anything that could ruin my books!

A kitty~ Some people may not feel this is necessary, others may prefer a dog, but I can tell you there is nothing better than curling up into your reading nest with a kitty curled up asleep in your lap. Pure Heaven right there!

A table to hold things~ Mainly because I need somewhere for my drink, snacks & extra books to hang out.

Extra books~ Because I read multiple books at a time and like to change out a couple of times during a reading session. {I have a short attention span, so switch things up to keep myself interested and entertained}.

Time~ This has been at a premium lately, so I haven’t had a really good reading session in a while {as evidenced by the same books staying on my update for weeks on end}. This is the one luxury item that I hope to add into my life very soon!
