Book Blogger Hop #7

I am linking up with Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer for the Book Blogger Hop. And what is the Book Blogger Hop? Well according to the meme’s page:

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s question:

When you enter an unfamiliar house or apartment for the first time, do you feel disappointed if you don’t see any bookshelves, or books on the coffee table? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

I have never really thought about this to be honest. I know that I feel a certain kinship when I walk into someone’s home and it’s full of books, but I don’t think that I’ve ever been disappointed when they didn’t have books. I come from a family of non-readers and am used to homes without books, so that probably plays a part.

This week’s question:

Do you participate in readathons and/or reading challenges? (submitted by Kristin @ Lukten av Trykksverte)

Yes, definitely! I am participating in a whole slew of reading challenges this year! I want to participate in more readathons, but my schedule has made it difficult to do so. My preferred style of readathon are those that run for 24 hours or a weekend, and unless I can arrange to have the time off, I just can’t do it. I have joined up where I can though.

This week’s question:

Do you ever go “way back” to when you first started blogging and look at your old review posts? Do you see any differences from then to now? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

As I have only been blogging about books for just over a year, there really isn’t a “way back” to go back to. That being said though, I haven’t gone back to read any of my old reviews. I am sure that they are terrible because I was trying to find my voice and probably mimicking other bloggers to try to find the review format that worked best for me. Though after answering this question, I kind of want to now.

This week’s question:

Do you read tie-in novels to movies or television series? If so, which ones? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

As I don’t watch television, the answer is definitely no when it comes to tv series. As for movies, I frequently read books that movies are based on, but I don’t go out of my way to read the book before seeing the movie. And I haven’t come across any books that have stemmed from movies that I’ve read yet, but I’m always open for a good book, however it comes about.

This week’s question:

Have you ever read a book or books you would consider ‘toxic’ because of the effect it(they) had on you? If so, which one(s)? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

I would have to say that I have never read a book that I would consider toxic. Books can be a lot of things, but I have never found a book to be damaging to me either physically or psychologically. There are a great many books that break my heart, books that make me angry, and books that I just plain didn’t like, but none of them has ever prevented me from living a healthy, happy life. The toxic relationships in my life are limited to people, never books.

This week’s question:

What is your go-to drink and/or snack while reading? (submitted by Kristin @ Lukten av Trykksverte)

I keep things fairly simple when it comes to drinks and snacks while reading. For drinks, you will generally find me sipping Dr Pepper or water. In the winter, you may find a cup of tea on my side table {always hot, never iced}. Because I try to avoid greasy, drippy, or otherwise messy snacks while reading; I am most likely to be munching on Goldfish crackers {preferably Saltine or Parmesan}. If I’m craving a sweeter treat, it’s probably Red Vines, Tootsie Rolls, or Sweet Tarts.

Joining In: Book Blogger Hop #1

Yep, I’ve done it again… added yet another meme to my list for the year. After seeing this meme on several blogs that I follow, I decided to go ahead and jump in. And when I saw that the questions are planned out through mid-2018, I knew this was the meme for me!

This week’s question:
In one sentence, describe your passion for reading. (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

As I have grown and changed, so has my passion for reading, opening my life to a myriad of adventures and experiences I couldn’t live without.

I have so much more to say, but that’s a succinct as I can make it in one sentence!
