Get Social Blogger Event Sign Up

Anna at Herding Cats & Burning Soup is hosting an event for bloggers in June designed to help find new friends and introduce us to new blogs. I LOVE this idea because a) I am always looking for new friends, and b) I love finding new blogs to read!

Here are the details:

The event runs from June 4th thru June 17th
During the event visit each blog that is participating at least once per week.
Publish a sign up post
Use the hashtag #getsocial17

I am hoping this event will not only help me find some more amazing blogs and blogger friends, but also to help me be more consistent in commenting on other people’s blogs (I read them all the time folks, I promise… I just don’t comment often).

So what do you say? Do you want to #getsocial17 too?

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Sign Up

CanyoureadaI’ve decided to join Because Reading and Fantasy is More Fun for the Can You Read a Series in a Month? Challenge.

The Rules:

  1. Pick 1 series. Yes, just 1. Announce which series you’ve picked on your sign up post.

  2. Read EVERY book in the series. You don’t have to read novellas or short stories, just the core books.

  3. Read them all between 12am (your time) June 1st and 11:59pm (your time) June 30th. They MUST be marked (on Goodreads) as started and finished in the month of June to count.

  4. Enjoy bragging to everyone about how you’re all caught up on whatever series you read (AKA – have fun)!

It was easy to choose that I want to participate in this challenge, but much harder to choose which series that I want to read for it. I narrowed it down to two trilogies, one YA, one not; before finally deciding on the The Guardians trilogy by Nora Roberts.

Stars of Fortune (The Guardians Trilogy, #1)  Bay of Sighs (The Guardians Trilogy, #2)  Island of Glass (The Guardians Trilogy, #3)

Mini Blog Ahead Wrap Up

It’s hard to believe that it’s already the middle of March! The Mini Blog Ahead Challenge, hosted by Herding Cats and Burning Soup ends at midnight tonight, so in just a few hours.

I started the challenge with 12 scheduled posts and set my goal to have 30 posts scheduled at the end of the challenge. I am pleased to say that I hit my goal {and then some} and I currently have 34 posts scheduled. In addition I also have 2 fully written freebie TTT posts ready to be popped into a freebie week somewhere down the road. Plus I have approximately 9 other posts in various stages of completion. Not bad for two weeks of work.

I feel really good about my performance on this challenge and look forward to the next one!

Mini Blog Ahead Challenge Sign Up

I decided at the last minute that I was going to go ahead and join the Mini Blog Ahead Challenge from Herding Cats & Burning Soup. I joined the main challenge this past October, but wasn’t able to complete it once I started working. I went back and forth on whether to join this time because my schedule is still pretty busy, but I figured I could get some of my smaller meme posts planned out for a few months, rather than just doing them a month at a time.

This challenge runs March 1-15 and the goal is to schedule 15 additional posts to the number you already have scheduled. These posts should not go live until after the challenge ends.

I currently have 12 posts scheduled. My goal is to have 30 posts scheduled by the end of the challenge.

January 2017 Challenge Recap

As most of you know, I went a little crazy this year and joined 20 different reading challenges. I will be updating you monthly on my progress for each challenge {and linking up to the appropriate challenge page as required}. You can get up to the date updates and a full list of books read for each challenge by visiting my Challenge Page.

Here is where I stand after January:

I’ve Lost Control and I Need to Be Stopped~ aka More Challenge Signups

I think I may have a problem. I really meant it when I said that the last challenge sign up post was it on the challenges that I was entering this year. I did! But then I found more. I wasn’t looking for more, it just happened. And anyway, I was signed up for a weird number of challenges and I needed to round things out because I have a thing for number sequences and everything I post has to be in certain numerical values. But this is it, I swear! These are the last challenges I am signing up for. No more! {Unless of course I see one that just sounds really awesome or is hosted by one of my favorite bloggers}.

2017 Library Love Challenge

2017 Library Love Challenge hosted by Bea’s Book Nook and Angel’s Guilty Pleasures

  1. Runs: January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2017. You can join any time.
  2. Put a sign up post on your blog or (dedicate a Goodreads shelf or LibraryThing) and link it below. Make sure it’s public.
  3. The goal is to read at least twelve (12) books from the library, but you can read more. While twelve is the minimum, there is no maximum limit. See the different levels below and pick the one that works best for you.
  4. Any format will work for this challenge (print, ebook, or audio); as long as you checked it out from the library, it counts.
  5. Books can be any genre (fiction, nonfiction, romance, fantasy, mystery, thriller, horror, etc.).
  6. Crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed, including re-reads. The goal is to support your local library and save money.
  7. Write a review – 2 sentences or an essay, whatever works for you, but there is a minimum of 2 sentences. Not sure what to write? How about something like, “The plot was a delight, but the characters didn’t capture me.”

I will be aiming for the Thrifty Reader level of 24 books since all of my audio books usually come from the library. I haven’t been able to visit my library with my work schedule lately, but that will hopefully change in the new year.

Audiobook-Challenge-2017

2017 Audiobook Challenge hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer & Hot Listens

  • Challenge begins January 1, 2017  and ends on December 31, 2017. You can join at anytime.
  • The goal is to find a new love for audios or to outdo yourself by listening to more audios in 2016 than you did in 2016.
  • Books must be in audio format (CD, MP3, etc.)
  • ANY genres count.
  • Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed.

This is very similar to the other Audio book challenge I’ve joined, so why join two? Mostly because this one is hosted by one of my favorite bloggers! I will be attempting the Binge Listener level of 20-30 books.

So this time I really mean it. I’m done signing up for challenges! Unless of course that one irresistible challenge shows up on my radar over the next week…

Oops! I Found Even More Challenges for 2017

I may perhaps be crazy. Or just really optimistic and excited for all of the wonderful books  that 2017 will bring my way. Whichever is the case, I am joining 3 more challenges for 2017 {and none of them is a series challenge… still looking for one}. In many ways, the challenges overlap each other, so I am not necessarily committing to reading more books, just more books in different areas.

ng-ew-sign-up-post-pic

2017 Netgalley & Edelweiss Reading Challenge hosted by Bookish Things & More

  • The challenge will run from Jan 1, 2017 – Dec 31, 2017.
  • Anyone is welcome to join. You do not need to be a blogger, just post your reviews and come back every month to link them up.
  • Any genre, release date, request date, length, etc. counts so long as it came from Edelweiss or Netgalley.
  • At the beginning of each month there will be a roundup post for you to add your reviews.
  • If you forget to link up one month it’s not a problem just add your reviews next month.
  • If you would like to move up or down levels that is completely fine and at your discretion.

I will be going for the Silver Level of 25 Books for this one.

Mount TBR Reading Challenge 2017 hosted by My Reader’s Block

*Once you choose your challenge level, you are locked in for at least that many books. If you find that you’re on a mountain-climbing roll and want to tackle a taller mountain, then you are certainly welcome to upgrade.  All books counted for lower mountains carry over towards the new peak.

*Challenge runs from January 1 to December 31, 2017.

*You may sign up anytime from now until November 1st, 2017.

*Books must be owned by you prior to January 1, 2017. No library books.

*You may count any “currently reading” book that you begin prior to January 1–provided that you had 50% or more of the book left to finish when January 1 rolled around.

*You may count “Did Not Finish” books provided they meet your own standard for such things, you do not plan to ever finish it, and you move it off your mountain [give it away, sell it, etc. OR remove it from your e-resources].

I have chosen the Mt. Vancouver level of 36 books off my TBR.

literary-escapes-2017

2017 Literary Escapes Challenge hosted by Escape with Dollycas into a Good Book

Challenge – Try to read 1 book set in each of the 50 states + the District of Columbia. (51 Points). If you complete the challenge you earn 50 Bonus Points. You also can earn Bonus Points for books set in Counties around the world. 1 Bonus Point for each country. (No repeats – only 1 point can be earned for each country.)

I had just been thinking about how much fun a state or country challenge would be and the very next morning, what did I see? This challenge! I think it was fate telling me that I needed to sign up for it.

So that’s it… my final selection of challenges… unless I find a series challenge I like that is. In the meantime, I’m going to commit to completing at least 5 series in 2017. But I think that I have plenty of other challenges to keep me busy in the meantime. I have set up my Challenge Page to keep track of all of my challenges as well.
