Talking About Memes #7

I decided there were a couple of different discussion memes that I wanted to participate in this year, so like my quote memes, I am combining them into one weekly post.

The first meme is the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week there is a question to answer.

This week’s question:

Have you ever found yourself acting like a favorite character in a novel? If so, which one? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

No, I have never acted like a fictional character. At least not that I’m aware of!

This week’s topic:
Romance Recommendations
I read a lot of romance, so I can recommend a lot of books! My TTT this week listed 10 of my favorite Romance authors, so basically anything of theirs! Some of my favorite titles include the Inn Boonsboro trilogy by Nora Roberts and the Cutter Cay series by Cherry Adair. I also like Jamie Beck, Melanie Shawn, Serenity Woods.

And I’ve added a new-to-me discussion called My Favorite… hosted by Maureen’s Books. Bloggers receive a weekly prompt to discuss their favorite thing about.

This week’s prompt:

Valentine’s Moment

I honestly don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, so really don’t have a favorite moment. There was one year that I decided to celebrate myself though… I bought myself flowers and chocolates and a little stuffed bear and wrote myself a letter about what I loved about me. It was pretty corny, haha.

Talking About Memes #6

I decided there were a couple of different discussion memes that I wanted to participate in this year, so like my quote memes, I am combining them into one weekly post.

The first meme is the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week there is a question to answer.

This week’s question:

What authors have you met and where? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I really haven’t met any authors, except for Gretchen Powell, author of Terra. I met her at a Healthy Living blogger conference- we were both Healthy Living bloggers at the time.

This week’s topic:
What are some light, fluffy, feel good books you have read lately?
Most books I read have at least some seriousness in them, so I really can’t think of any books that I’ve read recently that were just fluffy, except maybe Baking is Murder, which I read in December.

And I’ve added a new-to-me discussion called My Favorite… hosted by Maureen’s Books. Bloggers receive a weekly prompt to discuss their favorite thing about.

This week’s prompt:

What is your favorite website to shop for books?
While I buy most things on Amazon, and fill my Kindle on a regular basis with them, my actual favorite website to buy physical books is Book Outlet. I also like to buy on Book Depository, but I get impatient waiting for my books to arrive when I order from them.

Talking About Memes #5

I decided there were a couple of different discussion memes that I wanted to participate in this year, so like my quote memes, I am combining them into one weekly post.

The first meme is the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week there is a question to answer.

This week’s question:

Do you prefer to blog about (a) specific book genre(s), or do you have an eclectic blog? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

My blog is definitely eclectic. I read from a wide variety of genres and include books from all genres in my posts and reviews. Basically, I just blog about books I love, no matter what genre they are in.

This week’s topic:
What were some of the big best seller books that disappointed you?
I honestly don’t read a lot of big best sellers… at least not when they are first released, and can’t think of any that I have read that have been disappointing. There have been some hyped books that I didn’t necessarily enjoy as much, like Bone Gap. And there are a few best selling authors whose works I haven’t really enjoyed in the past, so I don’t read from any more {Danielle Steele, Nicholas Sparks}. I guess if I had to pick one that is really big right now, I would have to say Outlander.

And I’ve added a new-to-me discussion called My Favorite… hosted by Maureen’s Books. Bloggers receive a weekly prompt to discuss their favorite thing about.

This week’s prompt:

Time to Read

Hmmm… I tend to read all day long when I can, but I always make time for a little reading right before bed. So I guess you could say that my favorite time to read is right before I go to sleep.

Talking About Memes #4

I decided there were a couple of different discussion memes that I wanted to participate in this year, so like my quote memes, I am combining them into one weekly post.

The first meme is the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week there is a question to answer.

This week’s question:

Do you ever go back to older posts and change things? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I generally don’t go back and change anything, unless I find a typo, which I will correct. Other than that I let my older posts stand as they are written.

This week’s topic:
How do you beat the winter blues?
My favorite way to beat the winter blues is to curl up under a blanket in front of a fire with a book and a cup of tea or cider. I am not a fan of being cold, but I do enjoy the snow. I grew up in Southern California and moved to the Pacific Northwest about 7 years ago, so we don’t get a lot of snow, but I love to watch it fall and take walks in it. I also try to keep upbeat music playing and find fun things to do indoors other than reading (crafts, games, movies) so that being cooped up inside isn’t so bad.

And I’ve added a new-to-me discussion called My Favorite… hosted by Maureen’s Books. Bloggers receive a weekly prompt to discuss their favorite thing about.

This week’s prompt:

Biography

In all honesty, I don’t really read biographies, though I do enjoy memoirs. I think it goes back to middle school and having to write reports on really dry biographies of people I didn’t care anything about. It’s a category that I may need to explore again as an adult.

Talking About Memes #3

I decided there were a couple of different discussion memes that I wanted to participate in this year, so like my quote memes, I am combining them into one weekly post.

The first meme is the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week there is a question to answer.

This week’s question:

When reading a mass paperback book, many people fold the cover back, as if they were reading a magazine. Doing this will eventually create creases in the spine. How do you feel about this common bookish habit? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

What people do with their own books is, of course, up to them. I choose not to fold the cover back and try to keep my books in a close to new condition as possible when reading them. That being said, yes, some of my books have creases in their spines… it’s just going to happen if you read a book enough times.

This week’s topic:

What books or series that are languishing in your TBR are you finally going to try this year?

Oh my gosh, so many! But the ones that are at the top of my list… and have been on my TBR for quite some time… include:

Wild by Cheryl Strayed
The Stars of Mithra series by Nora Roberts
Finishing the Dennehy Sisters series by Jo Goodman
Finishing the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer.

And I’ve added a new-to-me discussion called My Favorite… hosted by Maureen’s Books. Bloggers receive a weekly prompt to discuss their favorite thing about.

This week’s prompt:

Audiobook

2017 was the year of the audiobook for me, so there are several that I really enjoyed. Hands down, my favorite was Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, narrated by Wil Wheaton. Wil did an amazing job with this story and I was sucked into the plot, enjoying the action right along with the characters. This book was not normally one I would pick up, but so many people recommended it, so when the audio was available at my library, I checked it out… and I am so glad that I did! I now own the physical copy because I loved the audio version so much!
