My Week in Review 2017 #15

This is my week in review, where I update you on my life~ reading, blogging and general. I will also be linking up with some amazing blogs.

Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Life Happenings:

I’ve scheduled all my memes out as far as they can go for the year {The Friday 56 & Thirsty Thursdays are scheduled out to the end of 2017, TTT through the list of current prompts, plus 2 freebies, and Cat Thursday through mid-October- I need more pictures!}. Of course this means I only have my update posts and reviews to write during the week. One would think that I would use the extra time for more reading, or maybe more sleep, or a multitude of other things I need to work on… but no, I’ve used the extra time to look for more memes! You can expect to see some more memes popping up here over the next several weeks, starting with Book Beginnings this week. Because I am crazy.

And because I am on a strict book budget, but I still want all the books, I picked up a bunch of free Kindle books this week. I also ended up with a $0.99 one as well because I didn’t realize I had left the free zone behind, but that’s ok, my budget does allow for a couple of inexpensive ($3.99 or less) Kindle books per month.

If you read my Bookish Community post this week {see below for a link}, you saw that my county has lost their library system. In June, the online access to Library2Go will also be eliminated for those using Douglas County library cards, so I won’t have access to my audio books until I am officially living in the city of Eugene or within Lane County {there are separate library systems in that county} unless I pay a monthly non-resident fee. That being said, I’m going to try to get through as many audio books from my list that I can over the next month or so while I still have access. I will be a lot slower with physical/digital reads for a while, but will probably clear through a lot of audio books during this time {I hope}. I’m still pretty upset that the library measure didn’t pass and that the county decided that cutting the libraries was the best solution to their budget problems. While I haven’t always been an avid library user in the past, I have always valued their importance in communities.

In completely unrelated news, my glasses came in and I am now trying to get used to the progressives. I can’t wear them to work on the computer yet because I haven’t found the right place to look through, so nothing is quite clear. I’m doing pretty well with the distance and reading portions, but as my eyes get tired through the day, have a harder time with them. I was told it can take up to two weeks to fully adjust and it’s only been a couple of days, so I’m just continuing to build on my wearing time.

  1. Oh my goodness, how do you keep track of reading so many books at one time??? I need your skills. Also thank you for posting about all those free ebooks, because I think I’m going to have to go snag them for myself, they all look really good. Awesome book week for certain! And I hope your TBR books end up being really good!

  2. Whew, there is a lot going on in this post! That’s so cool that you’ve scheduled all of your meme posts for the rest of the year. I’m also on a book ban and I’m trying so hard to be good about it. D: You got so many books! I hope you enjoy all of them!

Have a fabulous week, Michelle. =)

  3. Yay for the memeage, must be nice to be so far ahead! I’m caught up on TTT but that’s about it lol. Sorry to hear about the library system- that is a shame when people don’t vote to support libraries.

I just started Across the Universe but I’m only a few chapters in, so I don’t know how I feel yet. I hope you liked it.

Some of those Kindle freebies look pretty good.

  4. I hope you enjoy all your books. I’m planning to try audiobooks, maybe, next month. I’m used to reading actual books and ebooks. Audio version books are very new to me. Fingers crossed I’ll enjoy them.
Have a great week and Happy reading. 😁

  5. I’m sorry to hear that your county is losing its library service. Good luck on taking full advantage while it is still available. I have to stay away from free Kindle books. I have literally hundreds that I haven’t yet had time to read. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  6. There was a time when I was participating in multiple weekly memes and they ended up consuming all my blogging time. I was literally obsessed with them and had to cut myself off to get back to reading and reviewing and other non-blogging hobbies. Right now I’m only doing the What Are You Reading? meme as a way to reconnect with the book blogging community.

I’m back from my trip. It didn’t turned out as planned but we had fun. Come see what we did and what I read.
